Today’s walk provided some great photo ops. The wind was wild and the clouds dark. You can see the rough waters here in Lake Sekrit.

Weeds against a gray sky. (I want to make a website banner from this, I think.)

My town!

It’s still snowy in the mountains.

I know I said I would take more pics while this was in progress, but I finished so quickly, there wasn’t time. Here’s the finished shawl. I *love* it. It’s big and warm but also light and easy to move around in. Putting the squares together so the diagonal edge formed triangles worked really well; it folds perfectly around my neck. Plus, the flat sleeve edges don’t hang down too long in the front.

Some closeups and a full floor picture (click over to Flickr if you want a bigger view):

Next up is, er, well, maybe nothing. I’ve made everything I need! I might not crochet anything for a while. If I come up with a project, I’ll post.
Meanwhile, I’ve joined ravelry. My alias there is teagirl. See you there!

Movies
I watched The Lookout and enjoyed it. The main character was extremely likable and distinctive. The story was put together well and was engaging as a crime story as well as an emotional character-development story. The acting was great. I recommend it.
Books
I reread Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale this weekend and started a reread of Gaiman’s Neverwhere. It was gorgeous outside here in Colorado, but cold, and reading in my warm, comfy nook was too nice to stop. I love Handmaid’s Tale, but I’m sure it has influenced me more than any book should. I can’t quite leave it behind as inspiration because, to me, it is the perfect Great Story. It’s brilliant on so many levels. I wish I could write something like that. I imagine I will always be trying. *sigh*

This is the last set for today (I promise!). These are from a walk I took earlier, finally getting back to the swampy land I mentioned weeks ago. As you can see, Sunspot loved the lake.

I love the colors here, gold against the pale blue:

A wider view. Clouds hide the mountains.

On the way home, I spotted a horse.

It’s finished! This blanket served the dual purpose of amusing me with its clashing colors and using up all my remainder yarn. (Well, all my remainder Red Heart yarn–I have plenty of Simply Soft left. *sigh*) It turned out to be 67”x40”–just long enough to use on the couch.
Pictures!
The traditional chair drape:

The full blanket (note when I took the picture, I hadn’t completed one of the black center stars):

And a closeup!

Next up, I’m making a shawl because the previous one I made is 1. too warm for summer and 2. a bit sloppy because it’s too big. Details shortly!
