The creek by my house rose dramatically in the past week. I’ve put together some comparison pictures. Note how much fun the ducks are having; they paraded for me. Silly vain ducks.

This underpass was dry two weeks ago.

This duck paddled upstream for quite a while. I think he was doing it for fun.

This one posed for me. Oh, the vanity!

Underwater!

A creepy place where the ducks prolly hide.

I’m hoping for wildflowers soon!

Warning, gratuitous picture post here. I just uploaded three sets to Flickr. Only one contains cat pics. :p
First, L Kiddie took a ridiculous nap. More in the set

I walked the creek trail on a very cloudy afternoon. This set is pretty small but contains evidence of the arrival of spring.

The next day I went back to the small lake (the one that surely serves as an alien landing pad in winter, when it’s frozen). The birds were posing for me! And the sky was full of a perfect pale pink. The set is here.

See, what I mean about the perfect pale pink?

In other news…
Piano Stuff
I’ve memorized the whole Beethoven Sonata movement. Now I’m trying to work it up to speed. Keeping my arms and hands relaxed is key, I suspect, so I’m focusing on that. I also started work on the Chopin Ballade. I couldn’t resist! It’s so beautiful! I’ll definitely finish work on the Etude first, though. And I’ll learn something by a different composer next time.

I took the short (lazy) path to Lake Sekrit and caught the craziest sunset. I love the contrast of the snow-capped mountains against such a fiery sky.

More photos in the Flickr set.
The lake at peace.

What *is* this weed?!

Here it is against the sunset. It’s pretty when it’s backlit. :p

I waited until dusk to go for a walk. It was me, my camera and the giant scary park. Luckily, the coyotes weren’t around. Notice how grainy the pictures are; my poor camera can’t focus well in the dark, but I like the unusual colors.

And! Tomorrow is Friday.

Here’s the lake again. I suspect I won’t have it to myself much longer. There was a boat out today, and a couple of picnic-ers. Summer might be crowded. The Flickr Set contains all the photos. Beware, the birds were in a rare mood.

Scaredy Bird (see that beak?)

Check both ways before crossing.

Ruuuuun!

Whew.

Sunspot hates when I stop to take pics. I like this spot because it reminds me of the trails I used to walk by the beaches in South Carolina.

Cherry blossoms along the way

Here’s that spooky mutant-looking weed that grows everywhere. I keep expecting it to, er, bloom or something. So far it’s just strange. We *do* live near Rocky Flats, so who knows what it is…

The Adventures of Invisi Dog
Sorry, Sunspot, I can’t let you in, because it would disturb the kitteh. (DO NOT DISTURB THE KITTEH!)

Invisi Dog can’t be taunted.
