The city is full of history and beauty. Here are a few things we saw as we wandered around the first couple of days. First, the Trevi Fountain. My euro made it into the fountain, so I’ll be back.

The Spanish Steps at night. We climbed them! The view was cool, but it was too dark to catch a photo.

Campo Dei Fiore was on the way home. Here’s Larry in front of the famous statue of Bruno the heretic.

The next day was a memorial at Vittorio Emmanuel, to soldiers who’d lost their lives in the Gulf War.

Palatine Hill was my favorite place in Rome. It’s a peaceful, spiritual place, and the site of the original Roman settlement. Here’s a few of the city from the hill.

Our very first day in Italy, we walked north from our hotel in Trastevere and crossed the Tiber to find the Mouth of Truth outside St. Mary in Cosmedin. That’s my arm.

Kitties everywhere!

A few shots in the Forum.

The Arch of Constantine, which leads to…

The Colosseum

These are more photos from the 2003 trip, these from our three days in Florence, the last city we visited. The highlight was seeing Michaelangelo’s David, though I only have a picture of the outdoor copy in Piazza della Signoria.

We stayed near the Duomo.

Red rooftops near San Spirito.

The famous Piazza della Signoria.

And the famous Ponte Vecchio, a bridge of shops and sights.

Here are a few extra photos from Venice from our trip in 2003. On the first day, we walked to the top of St. Mark’s Cathedral and took this shot of the piazza.

Of course, we rode a gondola. Here’s the view.

We passed under the Bridge of Sighs.

And out into the channel…

Into the Grand Canal, as the sun was falling.

Here are the two pencil drawings I’ve completed. The first is Michelle Pfeiffer. The second is a Venice scene.

That’s it for the old stuff. I have one new drawing to post…
